De traditionella danserna i Ecuador är mycket olika, vilket främst beror på att deras rytmer har blandats eller smält samman med främmande rytmer till följd av kolonialism och blandningen av raser.
De flesta av dessa danser härstammar från det ecuadoriska höglandet och även om vissa uppstod under pre-columbianska tider, är det europeiska inflytandet i vissa fall och afrikanska i andra ganska anmärkningsvärt i dess utveckling under åren.
I de traditionella danserna i Ecuador skiljer sig den religiösa aspekten ut eftersom många av dessa rytmer har kopplingar till forntida ritualer som genomförs i religiösa fester som främjas av hängivenhet.
Även om många av de instrument som används för att utföra dessa rytmer idag har utländskt ursprung, hade de infödda i regionen sina egna före européernas ankomst, såsom pingullo, rondador, dulzaina, bland andra.
Här är fem traditionella danser från Ecuador.
1- Hallen
Av europeiskt ursprung (för att vara mer exakt, av den österrikiska valsen) hade denna musikgenre sitt början i grannlandet, Colombia, under kriget för självständighet i de colombianska Anderna, flyttade sedan till Ecuador och flyttade senare till andra länder på den amerikanska kontinenten , hur man är:

Namnet "Hall" är en minskning av ordet "steg", med hänvisning till de korta stegen i dansrutinen, och har tre representativa sätt att implementera det:

2- Part instrumental hall : med en mycket mer livlig rytm, är denna version kopplad till alla typer av fester och evenemang, som bröllop och tjurfäktningar.
3- Koreografisk hall : mycket lik den instrumentala festsalen som används för gruppkoreografier. För närvarande används denna representation av hallen.
De vanligaste musikinstrumenten i denna dans är gitarren, pianot, flöjt, violin, tamburin, harp, bland andra.
2- Sanjuanito
Denna dans existerar före ankomsten av de spanska tredjedelarna till den amerikanska kontinenten och utfördes av inkaerna under ritualerna för tillbedjan till Inti (solen Gud).
Namnet "Sanjuanito" har spanska inflytande på grund av födelsedatumet till San Juan Bautista (den tjugofyra juni).
Sanjuanito blev populär under 1900-talet, och det är en festlig och glädjande genre som hörs i alla festliga evenemang (urban och landsbygd) i Ecuador som dansar i grupper som håller hand i cirklar. Några mycket populära Sanjuanitos är:

För att tolka Sanjuanito används både infödda instrument (bandolin, dulzaina, rondaror, pingullo, etc.) och främmande instrument (gitarr, bastrumma, quena, zampoña, etc.) och de vanliga danskläderna består av röda kläder, espadriller vita hattar, hattar i olika färger och tillbehör som halsband.
3- The Albazo
Namnet "Albazo" härstammar från serenaderna som spelades i gryningen för att tillkännage början av populära festivaler och dess ursprung går tillbaka till den spanska när de spelade musik i gryningen på pilgrimsfärd dagar och religiösa festivaler.
Albazos rytm är livlig och livlig, spelad av lokala band i sin helhet, och de vanligaste instrumenten som används är Requinto (liten gitarr med fyra strängar) och den kreolska gitarren. Några av de mest populära ämnena är:

Albazo har påverkan från andra spansktalande länder på kontinenten som Argentina (zamba), Chile (cueca) och Peru (den peruanska marinera).
4- Chota pump
Denna musikaliska rytm har sitt ursprung i Valle del Chota, och dess skapare är afro-ättlingar till området.
Bomba de Chota är en rörlig rytm och dansas på erotiskt sätt; höftrörelser är också ett komplement till denna rytm. De grundläggande instrumenten som används är sträng (gitarr och Requinto) och slagverk (güiro).
Särskilt är denna musik inte så populär i hela landet; den hörs och dansas bara i Chota Valley-festivaler på sina lokala festivaler, och dess publik är i allmänhet av inhemskt och mestizo-ursprung.
När det gäller garderoben bär män en skjorta (långa ärmar) och svarta byxor. På kvinnosidan är de klädda i pompösa blusar, veckade kjolar, petticoats, bottnar och flaskor på huvudet vid några tillfällen.
5- Capishca
Capishca är en rörlig rytm som hörs främst i provinserna Azuay och Chimborazo (mellan Andes-regionen i Ecuador). Namnet "Capishca" betyder "att klämma" och kommer från Quichua (verbet "capina").
Denna rytm är mycket lik Sanjuanitos. Under denna dans måste den manliga dansaren testa sitt fysiska tillstånd för att blända sin partner med skickliga rörelser.
Herrkläder är ganska enkelt: en skjorta och byxor med samarror. På kvinnans sida bär de två kjolar (en upphöjd och en under), de bär olika tillbehör på huvudet, nylonstrumpor på benen och skor i skinn.
Närvarande
Även om man i vissa regioner fortfarande diskuterar den traditionella andan i landets historia, tenderar tonåringarna mer att identifiera sig med andra typer av musikaliska genrer.
Musikgenrer som reggae, rock and roll, pop, jazz, blues eller elektronik, har en viktig efterfrågan mer än någonting i den ecuadorianska ungdomen, särskilt i invånarna i stadsområden, vilket prioriterar denna typ av konst före det traditionella.
Dessutom bör colombianska cumbia inte glömmas, en musikalisk rytm som har publik i alla åldrar och sociala klasser i landet.
